MODESTO ROTARY CLUB FORUM CANCELLED AFTER HARDER WITHDRAWS PARTICIPATION

MODESTO, CA – The Denham campaign was informed by the Modesto Rotary Club today that their scheduled candidate forum of August 21st, 2018 was canceled because Josh Harder withdrew his planned participation.

“I understand Josh Harder’s fear of addressing the Farm Bureau with his support of the State water grab, but the rotary?:” said Jeff Denham. “The Rotary is one of our Districts most important local organizations and is a bedrock of fair, non-partisan and open discourse about local issues.”

Congressman Denham has accepted two other debate invitations. One with the House Church in Modesto, CA on August 14th, and another with the San Joaquin County Farm Bureau on August 20th. He has also agreed to a candidate forum with Latino Community Roundtable August 7th, and his campaign had been working with Father Avila for a Spanish language debate at his parish in Riverbank before the Harder campaign abruptly backed out of negotiations.

“Faith-based, Latino, Agricultural, and business communities are vitally important to our district. If Josh Harder continues to reject key stakeholders like the Rotary and our agricultural industry leaders, it’s going to be hard to bridge the gap on debates,” said Josh Whitfield – Denham’s Campaign Manager. “The fact is that Josh Harder wants a circus, not a debate.  Having never voted in local elections and only moving back here to run for Congress, you would think Harder would be eager to introduce himself to these communities.”

Congressman Denham remains committed to showing up at the House, and San Joaquin County Farm Bureau debates with or without Josh Harder’s attendance and would still be willing to address the Modesto Rotary.
