Modesto, CA – – United States Representative Jeff Denham (R-Turlock) holds a commanding 57% to 33% lead over his Democratic opponent Michael Eggman (D-Kingsburg) in a new poll of likely voters in California’s 10th Congressional District, conducted by Public Opinion Strategies.
The poll, conducted August 28-30, showed the Presidential race to be in a dead heat in the district, with Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump tied, 40% to 40%, with 11% going to the two third party candidates and 7% undecided.
“The attempt to bring Jeff Denham down by tying him to Donald Trump has failed miserably,” said Denham’s campaign consultant Dave Gilliard. “Voters in the 10th district know Jeff is an independent thinker who is in touch with his district and understands the issues facing the Valley.”
The poll showed Jeff Denham has a strong approval rating, with 58% of voters approving of his job in Congress and only 20% disapproving. The 57-33 lead was on the initial, unaided ballot question, with respondents given only the candidate’s names, party and official ballot title.
The poll of 400 voters accurately reflected the district’s partisan and ethnic breakdowns. It has a margin of error of +/- 4.9%. Click HERE for a memo from the pollster with more details.
